J. Randal Wexler of FutureCeuticals/Van Drunen Farms and Former Nature’s Bounty Exec Mitchell Slade Join Folium Biosciences Advisory Board

Colorado Springs, Colo. – November 24, 2020 – Hemp-derived non-psychoactive cannabinoid manufacturer Folium Biosciences welcomes J. Randal Wexler, Vice President and General Counsel of FutureCeuticals/Van Drunen Farms, and Nature’s Bounty Co. veteran Mitchell Slade to its Advisory Board.

“The CBD industry is advancing quickly toward a more diversified and commercial future, and Folium continues to bring on experienced advisors with critical expertise from key sectors to keep us at the forefront of the industry,” explains Folium Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Kashif Shan. “Adding Randy’s strategic business and regulatory experience with the manufacture of fruit-, vegetable-, and grain-based products for the functional food, cosmetics, and dietary supplement markets, together with Mitch’s two decades of leadership at one of the most successful wellness brands in the world to our Advisory Board puts us in an even stronger industry position going forward.”

After 16 years with global law firm Sidley Austin LLP, Randy Wexler has served since 2015 as Vice President & General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for FutureCeuticals/Van Drunen Farms. The company is one of the largest culinary herb farming and freeze-drying operations in the United States, supplying food ingredients and patented dietary supplement ingredients to trusted consumer brands.

“In my role at FutureCeuticals, I focus every day on discovery science and research as the lifeblood of the company. But more than a job responsibility, it’s also a passion of mine that runs particularly deep,” explains Wexler. “I have been watching as the CBD marketplace explodes, and there’s no question that hemp derivatives represent a once-in-a-career opportunity. But until I met the team at Folium, and Kashif Shan in particular, I wasn’t sure if I’d find a CBD company that aligned so well with my keen interest and dedication to science and research. I signed on to join the Advisory Board because I see in Folium a unique and wonderful marriage of forward-looking entrepreneurship with an absolute dedication to science and research — an approach that aligns incredibly well with the scientific search for truth that we value so much at FutureCeuticals.”

During his 20-year tenure at Nature’s Bounty, Mitch Slade held numerous executive positions within product development, contract manufacturing and global planning, including leadership roles in the integration of more than $700 million in acquisitions from Sundown Vitamins, Osteo Bi-Flex, Pure Protein, Met-Rx, Ester-C, Solgar as well as Leiner Health products. His innovation track record led to some of Nature’s Bounty’s top-selling SKUs today.

“I’ve been in the nutritional supplement industry my entire life. It’s been my family’s business for more than 40 years,” says Slade. “But I’m also an entrepreneur at heart. The opportunity to be part of the CBD science revolution and at the same time put my global product commercialization and optimization experience to work to help Folium solidify its position as the world’s most sought-after hemp-derived product manufacturer was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I’m thrilled to join the Advisory Board.”
